case study

Fire Integrity played a key role in ensuring fire safety on Eastbourne’s £85m Beacon redevelopment, one of the town’s largest construction projects in decades. The company supplied and installed high-performance intumescent coatings and fire protection applied to the structural steel and columns, integrated with Kier’s construction programme, helping to maintain structural integrity and prevent the spread of fire and smoke.

The redevelopment included a three-storey, 175,000 sq ft retail and leisure extension, an eight-screen rooftop cinema, and two additional steel-framed car park decks built on top of the existing multi-storey structure - all constructed on a live, operational site.

A standout element of the project was Kier’s world-first column-strengthening system, which allowed the new car park floors to be supported without replacing the existing concrete columns. Our passive fire protection solutions were carefully coordinated with this innovative structural approach, ensuring full compliance with UK fire regulations while supporting the safe and efficient delivery of this complex, high-profile project.
